Nerve

Warning - This review contains some spoilers ⚠️
Described as a game like "truth or dare, minus the truth", Nerve, whilst appearing fake, is scarily probably already a game we have all yet to come across. Considering the stupid trends on YouTube recently, I wouldn't be surprised. Let's all just hope this isn't a thing already.

With the main cast consisting of Emma Roberts (Vee) and Dave Franco (Ian), its not surprising that this film would soon become popular.

After having a rough year, she ignores her acceptance letter to art school and joins the game where “watchers pay to watch and players play to win cash and glory”. By accepting and completing dares set by the watchers, the game that is broadcast globally soon makes Vee popular. She meets Ian after targeting him on her first challenge to kiss a stranger in public for five seconds to win $100.

Obviously, Ian also is a player, and after he completes a dare (which he surprisingly pulled off!), watchers want them both to go to the city with each other as part of another task. That task soon sees them trying on expensive clothes, only for their normal clothes to be taken away - with no other choice than to leave the shop for $2000. But did the manage it, and if so, how?

You'll have to watch to find out.

I love films like these that you can imagine actually happening, and parts where they just simply won't. It is not too unrealistic and there is not boring, slow scenes - perfect.

The acting, writing and plot-line is very well done and all makes for a very good film. I kind of wish there was a second film but I don't see where they would go from there, keeping the same cast, of course!

Have you watched Nerve? Did you enjoy it?
