The Missing is more than amazing. Its emotional, well-written and after those twists and turns I sure do love The Missing even more now. If you have any unanswered question look here, quite a few questions that were on all of our minds before the finale.
So I won't sugar coat anything... SAM DIED. HE ACTUALLY DIED. He was shot by Adam, met his daughter after 11 years, felt guilty for being wrong and then died...heartbroken to say the least.
I am honestly still crying and can't get over what happened. After that nail-biting hunt for Alice, we thought all our questions will be answered tonight (at last we yelled) but nooooo WE WERE LEFT WITH MORE QUESTIONS. Why didn't we see this coming?
But just to skip to the end, ummm hello? BBC we specifically asked for Baptiste to live and it ended on him going into surgery: explain?
So after kidnapping, raping, blackmailing and killing innocent people, Adam Gettick was shot, arrested and then questioned by police, including Eve Stone and Baptiste. He admitted abducting the girls, making Sophie pretend to be Alice after she got sick, just so she would get better and they could live together. He then revealed he had killed Lena Garber (who died in the shed). Apparently she was put in there when he let Sophie go. He admitted to killing Det. Lenhart (you know the guy who died with the drill and, um, well the less said the better). I can't remember if he said it but we saw a flashback of him asking Stone and Henry for help as Sophie was dying. He blackmailed them as he recorded them talking about the Iraq war. Henry sneakily got the phone and tried to call for help but Gettrick saw the phone and shot him and then made it look like suicide.
Now it makes sense as to why Sophie, before leaving to go to Switzerland, put flowers on his grave. Because she knew what he had done and what he tried doing for her. It was a thank you. But surely because she did this she know it was wrong was Gettrick did and she would avoid him?
He then told police how he showed Sophie a picture of the butcher, Kristian Herz, and told her to identify him as the abductor. It was revenge for Nadia since she didn't send out any soldiers to look for him when he was taken back in 1991. The interview ended very badly (not in terms of the writing) as Baptiste said: "How many other girls were there, Mr Gettrick?", Adam replied eerily, "What makes you think there were any more?" with a big smirk on his face.
The brother/sister reunion was emotional. You could tell Matthew was relived he didn't kill his sister. She was very much alive, safe and they missed each other so much.
The real Alice Webster - yes folks, the real Alice. They found her moments after Sam had been shot. As he was being taken away on a stretcher, he saw her walking towards him, he asked to stop and it was his daughter. He cried and said "I was wrong." I don't think I have ever cried so much at a finale - honestly that was tough to watch, especially since *deep breath* SAM DIED...
...aand the moment we all cried for 10 minutes straight. Sam had believed his daughter was dead, he believed Sophie was Alice and that Matthew had killed her. His last words "I was wrong" were so powerful. But he did get to see his daughter one last time and that was better than not seeing her at all. Gemma was excited about Eve's baby girl. Sam was the father but Gemma still seemed happy which was nice to see after all the heartbreak they had been though over the past decade.
But after Sophie's rescue, her father waited to see her for the first time, but she sat there and ignored him, she didn't say one word to him and that was heart-breaking but the scene with Sophie's dad and his granddaughter helped a little since it was so sweet.
So Eve finally knows what her father really did and how he knew about what Gettrick's had done. When questioned, Getttrick revealed that Brigadier Stone helped him by faking the DNA test by swapping them to make it look like it was Alice in the fire and that she had died.
Baptiste, our favourite detective. We know he had a brain tumour and it was not long before he was rushed to hospital, but as usual he was right all along and solved the case - Bravo Julien!
But this is the last scene we saw. The doctors telling him to count down from 10. As he was suppose to be falling asleep so they could operate on him, the doctor said "Most people are asleep by now". Followed by:
He fell asleep at three and perhaps there will be a series 3. There has to be right?
Anyway, thank you for reading all 9 posts I wrote about The Missing, but I shall now let you all cry too!
I have just caught up with The Missing and it was so good - one of my favourite things on TV so I am sad it's over. Your posts are pretty cool so thanks as it broke it all down :D I was so confused at parts! Lol. I'm so glad Sam saw Alice but cried when he died too. Hope there is a third season

I liked Sam but though he was a bit annoying at the beginning, but toward the end I liked him. I cried when Julien smiled as the doctor told him about being strong. Need to toughen up :D
