Warning - This review contains some spoilers ⚠️
The
Missing may have a new cast but one thing that hasn't changed is the
twist and turns and a series of shocking events that series one provided
us with.
After
being abducted 11 years ago and returning to her family, something that
just isn't quite right but what is it? The BBC had a hard job this time
not only to keep the fans happy and the plot interesting, but to do
what they did and more so in series one when a boy, Olly, went missing.
Three
different time zones and 100 new plot twists was awaiting for The
Missing fans. From the year 2014 and jumping ahead to 'present day',
Alice Webster certainly kept us guessing as to what actually happened.
So,
as always we love nothing better than solving these mysteries before we
actually find out what happened. So who abducted Alice? What happened
to her, is there something she is hiding? Who is Sophie and where is
she? But the part that caused shock to viewers is simply this: Why did
so-called 'Alice' die only weeks after her return? and is she really
Alice?
Alice
died on December 22, 2014. We see her mum, dad and brother visit her
gravestone in the present day. We don't know much about the 11 years
that went by but we do know she saw the other missing girl, Sophie
Giroux, who was also abducted around the same time as Alice. We are
unsure if Alice gave birth but the doctors believe she either gave birth
or was pregnant at some point during those 11 years, despite her
denying it.
Julien
Baptiste was once again on the case as always and never fails to put a
smile on our faces with his brilliant detective skills. After finding
out Baptiste has a Brain tumour, all we want is for him to be safe(did
you shed a few tears too?). Later, Julien is searching through his case
files and we find out he is investigating the other missing child case,
Sophie. Was it me or did the yellow VW camper van have quite a
resemblance to the one was saw during Alice's abduction? Hmmmm.....
The
'what just happened, I am so confused' moment landed on everyone's face
when Baptiste said "I believe, that girl was not Alice Webster.” Since
then, speculation has begun and theories flying around social media are
hard to miss.
Alice
may have had the same tattoo on her as she did before she went missing
but perhaps she drew one for Sophie during captivity. Could Alice really
be missing girl Sophie Giroux, if so, where is Alice and why is she
claiming to be Alice?
We
are also introduced to new character, Daniel, who is a soldier at the
same Army camp as Alice's dad. We see him walk in with bags as he drops
them to the ground before it cuts to him scrubbing the bloodstained
floor. We then see him again but this time at his father's funeral after
he was thought to have committed suicide. Has he got something to do
with the abduction of the girls? Did you notice the date? December 14,
2014. Just over a week BEFORE Alice's death. Coincidence? I think not.
If it was suicide, what make him do it and who's blood was on the floor as he wiped it away very suspiciously?
Alice's
father has quite a nasty burn on the side of his face and part of his
back, but does not appear to have it in 2014. Are we to guess something
bad will happen down the line?
Yes,
we may have a month of plot twists and never-ending theories but if
it's anything like the last series it will all be worth it. Right?
